Day 35: Rekindling Your First Love for God

Revelation 2:4-5 – “But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.”

Returning to Your First Love

Have you ever found yourself going through the motions of faith without the same passion you once had? Life’s distractions, routines, and trials can cause us to drift away from the intimacy we once shared with God. This day is a call to pause, reflect, and rekindle the love you had for Him when you first believed. It’s about renewing your heart, repenting for where you’ve strayed, and reigniting the flame of devotion.

The Church in Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7)

In His letter to the church in Ephesus, Jesus commended their hard work and perseverance but admonished them for abandoning their first love. Despite their good deeds, their hearts had grown cold. He called them to remember their earlier devotion, repent, and return to the works of love they had done before.

Lesson: Even when we stay active in ministry or outwardly faithful, we must examine our hearts. Love for God must remain our driving force, not just duty or habit.

Insight:

1. Remember: Think back to the joy and zeal of your early walk with God. What did you do differently? How can you bring that passion back?

2. Repent: Acknowledge where you’ve let distractions or apathy take hold, and ask God for forgiveness.

3. Renew: Recommit yourself to cultivating your relationship with God through prayer, worship, and time in His Word.

Personal Reflection:

Share your story of rekindling your love for God. For example, reflect on a time when life’s pressures caused your relationship with Him to feel distant. Share how you realized this drift, repented, and reignited your faith by prioritizing God in your daily life.

Prayer:

Lord,

I confess that my love for You has wavered. Forgive me for allowing distractions and burdens to come between us. Help me to return to my first love—to the passion and joy I had when I first encountered You. Renew my heart, draw me closer to You, and let my life reflect a deep and abiding love for You. Restore the flame of devotion in my heart, and guide me to walk with You faithfully.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Practical Application:

Write a Love Letter to God: Reflect on why you love Him, what He has done for you, and how He has changed your life.

Reignite Devotion: Set aside dedicated time this week to worship, pray, and read the Bible without distractions.

Encourage Others: Share with a friend or community member how rekindling your love for God has impacted your life.

Engagement:

Question: What steps will you take today to draw closer to God and rekindle your love for Him?

Challenge: For the next seven days, begin each day by remembering one reason you love God and thanking Him for His faithfulness.

Day 4: Overcoming Depression through Faith

Psalm 34:18 — "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Philippians 4:6-7 — "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." After the birth of my first child, I faced something I never expected: postpartum depression. It was my first child, and I had no idea what to expect. The physical exhaustion, the emotional rollercoaster, and the overwhelming responsibility left me feeling lost. Coming from a place where mental health struggles are rarely discussed, postpartum depression wasn’t something I could openly talk about. It’s considered taboo, something we sweep under the rug because it’s “ugly.” But I lived it. I felt isolated, even when surrounded by people. I felt misunderstood, like no one truly grasped what I was going through....

Day 5: Finding Hope in God During Hopeless Times

Losing a loved one, especially a parent, can feel like the world is caving in. For me, losing my father in 2014 was a moment that shattered my belief in hope. I prayed fervently, hoping for a miracle, but my father still passed away. I remember feeling so confused, asking God, "Why?" I was hurt, questioning how a loving Father could allow such pain. But looking back, I see that my struggle wasn’t about God’s absence—it was about my own misplaced hope. I had placed my trust in the miracle I wanted to happen, not in the faithfulness of God Himself. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." My hope was misplaced, but through this pain, God showed me that true hope isn’t found in the outcome we desire, but in trusting that He knows what’s best for us. There were years I lived with a lingering sense of doubt, still praying but not fully believing in His goodness. I kept wondering why my prayers weren’...
